
* Marek will co-star with his talented wife, Barbara Barsky, in a production of Old Love - the very charming, deeply touching new "two-hander" by Canada's most popular playwright, Norm Foster. * Marek has been selected to participate in a nationwide arts symposium sponsored by the 2010 Olympic Committee. Some of the country's most influential artists, cultural and theatrical practitioners, directors, writers, designers and community leaders will assemble in Vancouver to discuss what it means to be Canadian and what defines Canada at the beginning of the 21st Century.
* Marek will create music for Theatrefront's epic production of The Mill - a four-play cycle (by Matt MacFadzean, Damien Atkins, Hannah Moscovitch, and Tara Beagan). The project is in development and will receive its world premiere in 2008/09.
* Marek will return to his "studio singer" roots by serving as featured soloist on Phillip Keveren's new recording project.
Mr. Keveren, one of Nashville's busiest writer/arrangers, will release the new CD in fall of '08.
* Marek will continue his successful relationship with Toronto's Soulpepper Theatre Company and also contribute further music mentoring to The Academy artists.
* Marek will join the creative team (as Musical Director) for a workshop presentation of Clara's Piano - a dramatic new musical by Neil Bartram, Brian Hill and Susan Schulman. This exciting material is being developed by The Stratford Festival and will feature actors Malcolm Gets, Tamara Bernier, and Caleb Cosman - as well as the National Ballet's Rex Harrington, Stephanie Hutchison, and Brett Van Sickle. The project will be choreographed by Matjash Mrozewski and directed by Ms. Schulman.
* Marek has accepted an invitation from the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts to teach "Music Theatre Performance" (MTP-IV) during the upcoming fall semester. He is excited to be joining the school's fine faculty. For further details, please visit: http://www.randolphacademy.com/
* Marek returns to Winnipeg in the fall of '08 to serve as Musical Director for the revival of MTYP's smash hit, A Year With Frog and Toad.
